What this converter does

Some older tools and messaging workflows still expect GIF. This converter creates a still GIF from your PNG graphics. GIF is limited to 256 colors and has more limited transparency than PNG. Gradients may posterize.

Use PNG to GIF when a destination specifically requires GIF input. Prefer PNG or WEBP for websites.

How to convert PNG to GIF

  1. Upload your PNG file. Drop one or more PNG files into the upload area (max 200 MB each).
  2. GIF color limits apply. GIF is remapped to a 256-color palette. There is no JPEG-style quality slider. Photographs often look posterized. This creates a still GIF, not an animation.
  3. Convert to GIF. Press Convert to GIF. Processing runs in your browser — the file is not uploaded to ImgTask's server.
  4. Download the result. Download the converted GIF file when it is ready. Conversion stayed on your device.

PNG to GIF is a compatibility export

Keep the PNG master. Use GIF only for the tool that will not open PNG.

Formats, limits, and privacy

Upload limit: 200 MB per image, up to 20 files at once. Images above about 100 megapixels may fail in the browser. Conversion re-encodes pixels and strips EXIF, GPS, XMP, ICC, and DPI metadata; orientation is applied visually first. GIF output is limited to 256 colors. Transparent pixels are flattened onto white.

Limitations: GIF is limited to 256 colors and has limited transparency compared with PNG. Complex gradients may posterize. Output is a still GIF. Transparent PNG pixels are flattened onto white in this encoder path.

Privacy: Your image is processed locally in your browser and is not uploaded to ImgTask's server. Image files never leave your device. No account is needed and results carry no watermark.
