What this converter does
PNG is excellent for sharp graphics but can be heavy. AVIF often reduces bytes for photos and complex images on modern sites. This tool encodes lossy AVIF, so it is not a lossless PNG substitute.
Use this when preparing PNG exports for websites that accept AVIF. Keep PNG for pixel-exact graphics, screenshots with small text, or tools that reject AVIF.

How to convert PNG to AVIF
- Upload your PNG file. Drop one or more PNG files into the upload area (max 200 MB each).
- Set AVIF quality. AVIF is re-encoded with the quality slider (default 90%). Encoding can take longer than JPEG or WEBP. Lower values usually mean a smaller file. This does not restore quality already lost in the source.
- Convert to AVIF. Press Convert to AVIF. Processing runs in your browser — the file is not uploaded to ImgTask's server.
- Download the result. Download the converted AVIF file when it is ready. Conversion stayed on your device.
PNG to AVIF — size versus sharpness
Photographs exported as PNG often shrink a lot as AVIF. Screenshots and UI with small text need a high quality setting or they can look mushy.
If you need a widely supported web format today, PNG to WEBP is often the simpler default.
Formats, limits, and privacy
Upload limit: 200 MB per image, up to 20 files at once. Images above about 100 megapixels may fail in the browser. Conversion re-encodes pixels and strips EXIF, GPS, XMP, ICC, and DPI metadata; orientation is applied visually first.
Limitations: Lossy AVIF quality settings can soften fine detail and text. Test important graphics before batch replacement. Encoding can take longer than WEBP.
